Important Information for Mooring Permit Holders
As a mooring permit holder, there are a few things you must do to ensure that your boating season in Newport Harbor is fun and relaxing.
- Update your contact information yearly. This includes mailing address, phone number and email.
- Submit proper boat registration/ documentation to the Harbormaster's Office yearly.
- Make sure that your mooring is inspected every 3 years.
- When submitting the required paperwork/documentation, you may visit our office at 39 Americas Cup, mail to Newport Harbormaster, 43 Broadway Newport, RI or email to email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I let my friend use my mooring?
A: Yes! You may loan your mooring to another vessel for up to seven (7) consecutive nights upon prior written request to the Harbormaster and approval of the Harbormaster. This temporary use of a mooring is limited to fourteen (14) nights in any one year.
Q: I was a Non- Resident but now I live in Newport and wish to be considered a Resident. How do I prove residency?
A: To be considered a Newport resident you must provide the Harbormaster's Office with a copy of your Voter Registration Card OR drivers license with your Newport address.
Q: What are my payment options?
A: Currently, we accept cash or check. You may pay in person at City Hall in the Collections Office or at the Harbormasters Office located at 39 Americas Cup. If mailing a check, please send to:

Q: When is my mooring payment due?
A: MARCH 15th. There is a late fee period for payments received after March 15th but before April 15th. The late fee is $100. Payments received or post marked after April 15th will result in forfeiture of the mooring.
